Our piano teacher, Feng, in the University of Southern California, offers piano lessons in all styles of music for ages 5 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, and a wealth of experience both teaching and performing on piano. He has been teaching piano lessons since 2011. As a pianist, he is equally experienced in classical interpretation and genre-crossing improvisation. This piano teacher was invited to give a solo piano recital for the opening ceremony of Cochem Internationaler Klaviersommer in Germany, and has also performed in many events and music festivals in China, Europe, and across the USA, including the 11th Festival and Conference held by the International Society for Improvised Music. His orchestral appearances include Mozart’s piano concerto KV.491 with the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, the Poulenc’s double piano concerto and Mozart’s piano concerto in C Minor KV.491 with the Colburn Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky's Concerto No.1 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber pianist, he has performed with the award-winning Saguaro Trio, the Los Angeles Ensemble, and the principle cellist of the LA Chamber Orchestra Andrew Shulman, among others. This piano teacher's multifaceted career has lead to collaborations with the classical improviser John Bayless, as well as with a third stream genre-crossing ensemble with renown jazz musician Ron McCurdy and Pipa player Min Xiao-Fen. He has accompanied a wide range of instruments on piano since his undergraduate years at Colburn. From 2015-2019 he was the designated studio piano accompanist for Andrew Shulman's cello studio at University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. Among his many awards, this piano teacher has received the Bronze Medal from the Cincinnati World Piano Competition, an Encouragement Prize from the Sydney International Piano Competitionm First Prize of the Parness Young Concert Artist Concerto Competition, First Prize of the California Division of the MTNA National Competition, and the Elizabeth Parisot Award for Distinguished Pianist from Yale University. Furthermore, he has received the Irving S. Gilmore Fellowship and Scholarship, Jean R. Miller Endowed Classical Piano Scholarship, and YAMAHA scholarship. He is also a member of musical organizations such as Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, International Society for Improvised Music, and the California Association of Professional Music Teachers. This piano teacher believes that the creative power of music is one of the most invaluable things a person can have for his or her life, and he is incredibly excited to share the secrets of music with his piano students, and his passion is to guide his students to find their own musical path through various tools.
