Our piano teacher Chuan-Li, in Portola, offers piano lessons in all styles of music for ages 5 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a wealth of experience both teaching and performing on piano. Chuan-Li has been teaching piano lessons since 2007. He has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative pianist at various settings, such as recitals and competitions. He is also a member of a four-piano ensemble group and a percussion-piano duo ensemble. Chuan-Li has also been ardently involved in many projects and music competitions nationally and internationally. His recent achievements include winning the Best Student Essay for 2021 Global Music Summit and emerging as the 1st runner-up of the Charleston Music Festival 2020. Chuan-Li has a great passion for music teaching. He believes that music serves as a joy-seeking tool that will benefit students in the long run. Throughout his 15 years of teaching experience, he has always challenged himself to incorporate creative methods into studio and classroom teaching. He enjoys making new concepts fun and easy to absorb. While Chuan constantly assigns tasks and poses questions that challenge his students to think critically, he is good at presenting his ideas in a relatable yet profound way. He prefers to take things slow in teaching. Because he cares about what each student can offer differently in their playing, he always provides feedback that brings out their best. He is also open to discussion with students in which they bring in unique, dynamic, and unconventional ideas. As a result, he discovers something new from his students daily. Ultimately, Chuan-Li seeks to encourage students to continue learning in a life-long passion for music.
