Your beginners’ pop/rock piano lessons will have you playing the music of your favourite singers, bands, pianists, and keyboardists before you know it.
It’s a common misconception that beginners’ piano lessons must begin with classical piano music. In truth, pop/rock piano lessons can be an excellent point of departure for the beginner piano student. Pop/rock piano lessons are also a great stepping stone for students who may be interested in taking jazz piano lessons in the future, as these piano lessons share much in common, while the music theory involved in pop/rock piano lessons can be a bit simpler and more straight-forward.
Your beginners’ pop/rock piano lessons start with your music collection. Right from the start, your piano teacher will design your piano lessons with the goal in mind of learning to play your favourite music on the piano.
Once the basics of the piano have been established, your piano teacher will teach you about chords - the essential building blocks of pop/rock piano harmony. Your piano teacher will point out how simple pop/rock songs can be, often built from 2 or 3 simple major or minor chords.
Your piano teacher will listen to your favourite music with you in your piano lessons, and teach you the secrets to learning to play pop/rock piano songs by ear. Your piano teacher can help you learn some of the beautiful, energetic, and fun piano parts from pop/rock piano greats such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, and Billy Joel. Your piano teachers can also teach you the vocal melodies of your favourite songs, working with you to create your own solo piano versions of songs originally written for a singer and a band.
With your pop/rock piano lessons, it’s easy to progress from beginners’ piano lessons to being able to write and perform your own songs, or applying your piano/keyboard skills to music production.
Many of our pop/rock piano teachers are also singer/songwriters, session keyboardists, recording artists, recording engineers, and music producers. If you have aspirations to compose or write songs, if you are a producer, or if you are a singer and wish to be able to accompany yourself on piano, our piano teachers will design your pop/rock piano lessons to have specific applications to your dreams, artistic practise, or career.
